Hosting a themed wedding doesn’t have to be complicated. Let’s take a look at this storybook themed event.

Your elopement will need three main components: seating, food/beverage, and decor.
Let’s start with seating.
Depending on how many people you’re inviting to your microwedding (generally, we keep it under 20). You will need to determine if you want the ceremony to be standing room only or if you want to provide some type of seating, or a mix of both. A lot of times, if people have elderly or disabled folks coming to their wedding, they’ll make sure to have seating for just those people.

In addition to ceremony seating, you will need to figure out dinner seating (or brunch or lunch, whatever you’re serving). You can easily rent tables and chairs and they’re usually pretty budget friendly.

Next, you will want to determine if you want to serve food and drink. I remember when I was planning my wedding, my mother-in-law told me when they got married, they just had a cake at the chapel and called it good. And I’m here to say, even in this day and age, that’s more than fine to do. Feeding all of your guests can get up there in price, so think about how much you want to spend on this.
It’s also not out of the question to have a potluck. Ask each guest to bring a dish, and let your wedding become a community event. Most people are happy to bring something and share in the moment with you.

And, of course, the decor. Decor for your elopement or microwedding doesn’t need to be complicated. If you’re having a themed wedding, choose a few items that will convey that theme and work around those.

You can find items at thrift stores or big box stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Or if you’re handy, you can make items yourself.
