You might think if you’re looking to have a magical, mystical elopement, you need to travel to Scotland or New Zealand. But, I’m here to tell you, you can have just as much magic in your own backyard in the Carolinas. You just need to know all of the great locations to elope in the Carolinas.
Here are 5 magical locations in South Carolina for your elopement.

Poinsett Bridge is considered the oldest bridge in South Carolina (and maybe the most haunted). It was completed in 1820 as part of the road that connected Asheville to Greenville. This bridge is now considered a heritage site, but it makes for the perfect magical, castle-like backdrop for your elopement.
2. Gassaway Mansion

Gassaway Mansion is located in Taylors, SC. It was built in 1919 by textile magnate, Walter Gassaway and his wife, Minnie, who designed the mansion after taking an architecture course. It’s about 10-15 minutes from downtown Greenville, which makes the location a great place to elope in the Carolinas. Because it is a full wedding venue, it is more expensive.
3. Paris Mountain Water Pump

This old water pump is such a vibe. It looks like a castle turret, has a waterfall in the background and a lake right above it. You just have to pay the park fee to enter the park, and then it’s a short half mile hike (depending on where you park) to this spot.
4. Cliffs at Glassy Chapel

This is a rustic chapel in the sky, on Glassy Mountain. It has the most breathtaking views, while providing that castle vibe that we’re looking for for our fantasy elopements.
5. Bridgeway Station

There’s a literal castle in Mauldin, South Carolina. This is a live/work/play space that just happens to look like a castle. It’s a great place to elope with restaurants, coffee shops, and beautiful spaces.
