Finding an “elopement venue” is tricky. Most wedding venues are built for full weddings, that means more space, more rules and more cost. Lucky for you, I have found Riversong Grove and I’m going to tell you all about it and show you all of it!
I actually found Riversong Grove by chance. I had just moved to the Greenville area (last year) and had booked two maternity sessions both of whom wanted mountain views. Now if you’ve ever met a pregnant person in their 3rd trimester – you know, making them hike a mountain in full makeup just for a photo opp is just not the vibe. So I went about scouting for a location that would serve these two couples.
This was right after Hurricane Helene had hit and devastated a lot of upstate South Carolina, Western North Carolina and Tennessee. One of the venues that suffered severe damage was Pretty Place – an open air chapel on the top of a mountain. They unfortunately had to cancel all of the weddings there for the rest of the year.
Jerry, one of the owners of Riversong Grove, posted on the Pretty Place Facebook page offering his space to couples who had their weddings cancelled as Riversong is just a few miles down the mountain from Pretty Place. That’s how I found them.
I reached out to him to ask if I could bring my couples up there for photos, and got to chat with Jerry and his wife Jamie about their plans to remake this Airbnb in the mountains into a luxury elopement/microwedding venue.
I have since worked at this venue multiple times and each time it takes my breath away.
The venue boasts of sweeping mountain views of Raven Cliff Mountain, a very short trail (if hiking is your thing), a rustic cabin in which you can stay, outdoor seating and a firepit area.
There is also a vintage Airstream on the property if you need separate bride/groom quarters.
The venue is about 45 minutes from downtown Greenville, South Carolina and about 45 minutes from Asheville, making it the perfect location for a Carolinas elopement.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a better venue for your South Carolina mountain elopement. And the owners are some of the sweetest people you will find – they will work to make sure your elopement is the best day (or days) of your life.
