Bring Your Pets!
The answer will ALWAYS be a yes from me, if you want to bring pets to your session or wedding. The only thing that might make us reconsider is if the venue does not allow pets or is in a location where pets might be put in danger. But I always want to meet your fur-children!
Best Practices for Including Your Pet
Bring Treats
Always bring high-value treats. These are something extra special that they don’t see very often. There will be a lot of new smells and distractions, so your pet will need something really great to get their attention. Some pets are more treat motivated than others, but with the right snack, I think any pet can be swayed.
Bring a Friend
Having someone your pet knows and trusts (and listens to!) is extremely helpful. This gives you the freedom to not have to worry about them and focus on your task of posing for the camera. Your trusted friend can not only direct your pets, they can focus their attention toward the camera (with the promise of the aforementioned treats!), but then there’s also someone to hang onto the pets or keep watch while we take some photos of just the two of you, sans fur-kids.
Know Your Pet
This one is vital. You need to know your pet’s boundaries and express them. I need to know if your pet is safe to be off-leash, or if your pet has aggressive tendencies toward strangers or other animals. These are all things we can work through, but for the safety of your pet and for myself, you need to be aware and let me know about any behavioral tendencies your pet has.
