Max Patch: Where the Sky Meets the Earth
Perched along the Appalachian Trail near the North Carolina–Tennessee border, Max Patch is pure freedom in landscape form. The short 1.5-mile hike to the top opens up to 360° mountain views, rolling green ridges, and skies that seem to go on forever.
Why it’s perfect for elopements:
Max Patch’s wide, open summit means you can have your ceremony surrounded by endless horizon lines. At sunset, the entire bald glows in golds and pinks, it’s a natural cathedral for intimate vows. It’s also relatively easy to access, making it ideal for couples who want epic views without an intense hike.

- The road up is gravel and can get bumpy, an SUV or high-clearance vehicle is best.

Craggy Gardens & Craggy Pinnacle: The Garden in the Sky
